SUMMARY:Compassionate Communication Course (Class 1 of 6)
DESCRIPTION:Over six weekly classes\, we’ll learn tools to create more understanding\, connection\, and empathy in charged emotional situations. The course is inspired by Marshall Rosenberg’s Non-violent Communication\, or “NVC”. \nCompassionate communication invites us to explore the underlying needs behind the feelings that come up in charged conflicts. Using an “NVC” approach we’re called to listen with curiosity and empathy to ourselves and to each other as a basis for engaging in challenging conversations head-on. NVC has become a powerful support for our community’s conflict resolution process. It’s not perfect\, or a cure-all\, but it gives us a language of the heart that can foster the connection needed to work through issues. DESCRIPTION:We welcome you to share in the experience of lifting up the work of racial justice and healing\, and growing our capacity for multiracial solidarity!\n\nJoining us to share about their work and facilitate a conversation will be members from the Western Mass chapter of Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ)\, a national organization that focuses on mobilizing white people for justice work\, particularly around systemic racism\, but also across many intersections of oppression.\n\nMonday\, September 30th\, 6-8pm in the Octagon\nSirius EcoVillage (18 Community Center Drive)\, Shutesbury\, MA\nDonations Welcome\nOur friends Avi and Kaybe will offer their stories of how and why they got involved in WMSURJ\, their solidarity work with the Hassanamisco Band of Nipmuc and other racial justice work.
