There are many activities, events, and meetings that happen regularly at Sirius. These activities seek to strengthen our community, support our needs, and help residents stay attuned to one another.
Some of these activities are open to visitors as well. For more activities and events that are open to the public, see our calendar page.
Community Meals (Rota)
Almost every weeknight we have a community dinner where we gather in the community center to enjoy a meal cooked lovingly by a fellow community member. On Saturdays, we share lunch after working together in the mornings during Joyful Productivity.

NVC Practice Group
Non-Violent Communication is the primary model we use to bring intentionality to the way we relate to one another at Sirius. It also helps us to solve conflicts and reach a consensus on certain issues.
NVC classes are taught to exploring members to cover the basics of this model. Ongoing practices groups meet every other Tuesday night to grow our listening skills, empathy, and expression of their own feelings and needs.
Regenerative Constellations
Constellations are a collective, embodied methodology for using our “felt sense” to heal and transform systems at the family, organizational and environmental level. Through this process, we use our hearts and bodies as the means of perceiving and relieving the places that are stuck in our lives, so that the flow of life is restored and we can thrive. Regenerative Constellations, in particular, connect our personal healing movements to those of our land, our water, all our kin.

Wednesday Intern Class
On Wednesdays, community members are welcome to teach or attend teachings that are offered to our seasonal interns. Classes are taught by different community members on a range of topics including things like pottery, permaculture principles, regenerative systems design, shoemaking, meditation, NCV, and more!
Thursday Night Community Meetings
Two times a month the community gathers on Thursday evenings to have our whole-community meetings. We start all of our meetings with a meditation to tune in and become present together. During these meetings, announcements are made, representatives from different domains and groups report on what they are working on, and proposals are brought up for discussion. We give space for all to have a voice and make our decisions by consensus.
Joyful Productivity (J.P.)
In order to keep our community clean, safe and functional there are many tasks and jobs that need to get done. We have a few full-time employees that attend so some of these needs, but for everything else, we rely on the volunteer hours of those in our community. These tasks include things like splitting firewood, shoveling snow, cleaning our community center, garden work, maintenance, and repairs. Each resident at Sirius commits to work 4 hours a week for the community. We refer to this time as “Joyful Productivity” because it channels our love of our community into action and joyful service.
Every Saturday morning the community meets at 9 AM to have a work circle where we assess a list of tasks that need to be completed. Residents choose which task fits their ability and interest and then work with a small team to complete their tasks. Residents who aren’t available on Saturday find another time in the week to contribute.
Music Circles
Each week there is some sort of musical gathering, often on Saturday evenings. This gathering normally takes place around a campfire or in the Octagon room. This is a time for residents and friends to explore their own expression and spontaneously co-create with those around them.
Community Meditation Circles
On Wednesday mornings Sirius hosts a meditation from 7:30 am to 8:00 am in the Octagon Room at the Community Center. Both residents and guests are welcome to attend! Collective meditation and sitting with others in sacred silence can be very beneficial for one’s practice.
On Saturday, Sirius hosts a Planetary Healing meditation from 12:30-1:00 pm. This meditation is a special time set aside to speak aloud any beings, organizations, or situations in the world which we would like to send healing energy towards. This meditation is most often attended by Sirius residents (after their JP) but it is also open to guests and visitors.
Sauna
Our wood-fired sauna building is fully equipped with showers, guest towels, and it has a capacity of 20 people. Saunas typically have been used to enhance health and well-being through the purification process and as a way of fostering community. Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $10 to upkeep the facilities. Please see our Community Calendar for the next upcoming sauna evening. If you would like to make a special arrangement for a group please contact guest.services@siriuscommunity.org.
Holidays and Spiritually Significant Dates
Generally, during the solstices and equinoxes, and occasionally at other times of the year, we host celebrations at Sirius to gather community and be present for these alignments and sacred times of the calendar.
There are also people within the community that like to lead ceremonies for their religious holidays for anyone to attend! We welcome anyone to share important holidays, rituals, and customs from their own faith or spiritual practice.
